Low Orbit

Made for the Mini Gim #2 game jam.

"The last human colony has had their vessel forced into the low orbit of an unsurvivable planet. Aliens and demons soon swarmed in from portals to other realms, threatening these people into inaction. But you... Those creatures loathe, fear and worship you, all in the same breath. The humans may not welcome you, they may not know how or why you shift with portals, but you never cared before and won't start now."

Controls:
Left / Right: move sideways
Up / Down: decrease and increase speed
A: shift to green
D: shift to red
Enter: pause

Couldn't have imagined I'd manage to finish this, as simple a first project as it is. I spent a lot of time on the visual aspects and lost a good amount of it attempting some stuff that in the end didn't make it in the game, but all in all I'm proud to have managed all of it from scratch.

I didn't have enough time to try my hand at making music or sound effects, and I would have liked to give it a better ending as well (just think of it as a prequel to a doom/ikaruga inspired game :P).
